Jennifer Kane
Boalsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

"The artist's philosophical approach to creating paintings of the landscape is one of simplicity and reverence. During the process of developing the image, she works with the concept that interrelationships and dynamics in nature reflect the human experience. Themes of spirituality, interdependence, and sensual awareness are explored and expressed.

A painting knife is used to apply pure paint to a linen or cotton surface, which is prepared with a burnt sienna ground to provide a contrasting undertone. This technique allow color relationships and gradation of tone and hue to serve as dominant elements in the final image. Abstract elements of the work are emphasized to support conceptual themes and references."

Mary Kokoski
Baltimore, Maryland, USA

“Everything in nature has a story to express, and I see my role as an artist is to tell that story with honesty, sensitivity, and a bit of poetry. I have always had a particular love for the landscape, and a need to be out in it. Thus, most of my paintings are begun en plein air, where the quality of light, atmosphere, and season can be experienced by all my senses.”

Mary paints landscapes and still life in acrylic, oil, and pastel and is a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters. She is represented by Chesapeake Gallery in Prince Frederick, MD and exhibits in American Painting galleries in Washington, DC, Ellicott City, MD, and New York City.

Marge Levine
Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey, USA

I graduated from The Fashion Institute of Technology and Design. Although my pastels ultimately reflect the color, the design, and the subtle forms of nature, I build these effects on solid, formally precise drawings.

I have won awards from many pastel societies throughout the States, and have won the first of two awards given by the International Pastel Societies/ Urania Christy Tarbet. I am a member of the American Impressionist Society, where I have won awards two years in a row; The Pastel Society of America, where I have won an award; The Degas Pastel Society, The Plein Air Painters of the Jersey Coast; and a Signature member of the Pastel Society of Cape Cod. Although I have worked in many media, including etching and lithography, my landscape paintings in pastels have allowed me the fullest artistic expression of my love for plein air painting.

Tom Linden
Rockford, Illinois, USA

Award-winning watercolorist Tom Linden has enjoyed creating art since an early age. Art classes in high school set the fundamentals and watercolor classes in college whet his appetite to pursue a realist style for his art. Graduating from college with a degree in marketing, Tom spent more than twenty years as a sales rep in the steel industry traveling through the environments of northeastern Indiana and later northwestern Illinois. Tom is now pursuing his dream and creating his artwork full time.

Tom utilizes field sketches, plein air paintings, photo references and liberal use of “creative license” to create his studio works, which maintain a distinctive Midwest feel. Tom’s original interpretations on painting techniques offer a unique look and atmosphere to his watercolors.

Jinnie May
Randolph, New Jersey, USA

Art has always been in my life however it was basically dormant while pursuing a career in a non-art related position in the pharmaceutical industry. Upon retirement I returned to art and in 2001 took my first watercolor class with Bryan Atyeo, a wonderful Canadian artist and instructor. I continue to take watercolor workshops with well known American and International instructors. My style is inspired by the California watercolorists of the 1940's and 50's and I have a huge collection of their instruction books.

I belong to several art associations and continue to exhibit, sell and win awards in many local and national shows . My paintings are in several private collections. Starting in 2008 I'll be conducting demonstrations and workshops in watercolor.

Mary L. Moquin
Forestdale, Massachusetts, USA

I spend my summers in a remote dune cottage on a small peninsula on Cape Cod Massachusetts, USA known as Sandy Neck. There I paint the peace I find around me in the rhythms of the landscape, rhythms like those found in music and poetry. Each brush stroke counts, each color counts, and in the end each piece strives to portray the truth of the original inspiration. I feel there is almost a sacred presence to the buildings depicted in my work. Geometrical shapes work beneath the images. Often, the triangle, to me, becomes the perfect meditation.

And, just as music and poetry have the power to enter directly into the soul, so too do I want the
experience of viewing my paintings. They are not to be analyzed or understood, but to be felt deeply, as a shared encounter with the landscape as I have witnessed it.

Keith Mountford
Yardley, Pennsylvania, USA

Bucks County painter Keith Mountford is a fine artist whose style can best be described as "watercolor realism."

Unlike many watercolor artists, Keith chooses to tightly control the medium, producing exacting landscape and architectural renderings with the subtle tones that are unique to watercolor. Through a painstaking technique of layering and blending, he uses a subdued palette to bring mood and atmosphere into his paintings.

Born and raised in Staffordshire, England, Keith came to the United States in 1993 at the age of thirty-one. He was inspired by the new culture and began to rediscover a dormant creative talent. It was quickly apparent that painting was a life calling, which was validated by an enthusiastic customer response. Keith's work is in private and corporate collections around the world.

Barbara Nuss
Woodbine, Maryland, USA

Around every corner is a painting, according to Barbara Nuss, who loves the
rolling hills, picturesque creeks, and historic areas near her home in rural
Maryland. Painting is her passion, and she is inspired to characterize the
still undeveloped areas revealing the heart and soul of her home state.

Her notable achievements include six paintings in the Top 100 National Arts for the Parks, her book 14 Formulas for Painting Fabulous Landscapes, paintings in two Oil Painters of America’s national exhibitions, and twenty-three years of teaching drawing and painting.

Barbara credits her artistic development to many sources: her BFA from Syracuse University, the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore MD, various workshop instructors, her students, and her membership in the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, where she was president for three years.

Her website reveals many facets of her landscapes, still lifes and genre paintings.  Enjoy!
